What we have here is a historical paranormal romance by the very good romance writer Teresa Medeiros. I liked the secondary characters, the two sisters especially Portia. I don’t know if Mary Sue (it started with a V) got enough of a development. But that was OK because Vivienne ( I had to look up how to spell the hero’s first name.) doesn’t get her own book. I always thought that was a weird combination of words -alien astronauts. This book does not have aliens or astronauts. It has vampires. Portia does have her own book because she’s that guy on the History channel who really believes in ancient Alien astronauts. I don’t mean that bad. She’s cool beans. This book does not have aliens or astronauts. It has vampires! Mary Sue Vivienne is the love interest (?) to suspected vampire and hero of the book Adrian Kane. He is good looking and mysterious and what you may look for if you wanted a soulless blood sucking fiend for a boyfriend. However what sold me on this book 100% is Caroline Cabot and her luck. She must have a ton of black cats back home. Spills salt. Walks under ladders. Because Caroline Cabot’s abysmal luck was a thing of wonder and horror for me. If she flip a coin to win a lovely prize or have a kick in the shin, she would be limping home 9 times out of 10. It was a train wreck and even after reading thousands of romances in my life time was a little unsure for her. I could see her falling off the balcony or choking on some roast beef right right before the Happy Ever After. I have 8 thoughts on Good Reads and all but one is about how bad Caroline’s luck was. I think I have a great deal of sympathy because most of her bad luck wasn’t even her fault.
I liked the book.

I really liked this story. their was excellent chararcter development and wonderful story telling. I could see in my mines eye just what the author was describing!! I really enjoyed the banter between the herione Caroline and her sister Portia. The conversation between the other characters were excellent too. The only thing I would have liked more would be of the love scene, just a little more romance and love scenes and this sory would have been a 5 star for me!!!
Lord Adrian uses the middle Cabot sister to lure the vampire who turned his brother and destroy him. Only Adrian falls in love with her older sister, Caroline, who becomes a target in the game of capturing a vampire. GREAT ROMANTIC READ with humor.
Love vampires ! Read all sookie stackhouse charlaine Harris books ! Good read, nearly perfect, except wanted to hear conversation in crypt between Portia & Julian , writer only gives second hand conversation
Great story, well written. Love the characters. Love the heat between them two.

If you are looking for a romantic vampire (where the guy/girl are an actual vampire) book this is not it.
This is one of my all time favorite books by any author. I love the character development and dialogue. I wish they went more into her sisters portion of the book because they talked about it so much but didn't really elaborate (I know there is another book focusing on portia but I still wish more had been said in this one regarding the circumstances with Julian and the crypt).
It was a welcome discovery, finding historical vampire romances. This is my first novel of Teresa Medeiros and such a delightful one. I had a permanent smile throughout the entire book.
The heroine, Caroline, has come to London along with her younger sister Portia to meet Viscount Trevelyan who is courting their sister Vivienne. There are rumors that the viscount is a vampire. Since Caroline is the guardian of her sisters, she feels it is up to her to dispell or, perhaps, confirm these rumors once and for all. But will she fall under the spell of the charming viscount in her attemps at discovering the truth.
The witty reparte throughout the book is so smart and never silly, totally laugh inducing. There is a lovely romance or two or three and there is evil that threatens to bring everyone down. If you want a break from dark vampire stories then this is the book to send you off in a new direction.
I absolutely LOVE Teresa Medeiros! She is an amazing author who never disappoints. I was leary of reading this 2 book series as I don't really do the whole Vampire thing. Again Teresa proved me wrong. I have this book, as I have ALL of her books, and was reading it on location one night at work as it was very slow. I accidentally forgot the book at work and knew it would be several days before I was back to that location. This would not do as I was just over half way through the book. I actually purchased the online version and downloaded it to my tablet so I could finish the story. When Reading a Teresa Medeiros book you can't just stop in the middle for several days. There is a drive to be part of the story and to see that to it's end.
